Brit passport
Hi
My grandfather was born in Palestine 1920s
at that time he had a british passport as Palestine was under british colony (before the occupation in 1948)
I have few quetions
1- does that mean his children and grandchildren can hold british passport ?
2- if so, will there be a record somewhere in the british passport office for my grandfather, so we can get a proof that he carried a british passport?
3- if so, how to contact them?
THanks in advanced

A lot of people once carried British passports but that doesn't mean they can do so today. I think it would be very unlikely that your grandfather's birth in Mandatory Palestine would entitle you to a British passport.

Doesn't carrying the passport of the country means citizenship?

Re: Brit passport
Ordinarily yes, but you're missing the point. That your grandfather was born in Palestine doesn't entitle you to a British passport anymore than someone whose grandfather was born in Somaliland, Tonga, Zanzibar or anywhere else that was once part of the British Empire.

I don't suppose any easing of visa conditions for Australians would apply to those already on the 5 year path?

That would be expecting too much wouldn't it, spouse of scouse?!! I fully expect everything to become substantially cheaper and easier the moment, we are done with this entire process ;-)

Sod's Law mate, Sod's Law. Still, we can be pleased for those who come after us (she says, stamping her feet and wailing)
