Default Brit Going Back to the UK with US Family

Hi there,
I'm a British citizen and I moved over to the US to marry my American wife in 2006. Five years (and two kids) later we're planning to go back to the UK for an extended period and I am confused about which visa form the wife and kids should fill out. For a start I thought it should be the EEA visa, but it said that this was not for families of British Citizens. Then I saw that they have a settlement visa, but that seems to talk a lot about joining a spouse who is already in the UK, rather than a Brit and US wife moving back. http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoap...ettlementguide

Can anyone tell me which is the right visa and how the application process is?

Many thanks,

Will

Hi Will, Welcome to BE. You'd be better off asking these questions in the forum called www.uk-yankee.com. This forum is for people moving to the USA. You want a forum for people moving to the UK.

You've been in the USA for 5 years...are you a USC yet? You'll probably want to become one before making an extended trip back home (that is, if you plan to be in the UK for more than a year).

You should consider naturalizing before you leave.

Your kids may already be UK citizens... in which case they don't need a visa.
