You've posted this on a thread about visas for Canada!

Please do ask in the correct forum (the citizenship sub forum in the Moving Back to the UK section of BE), and please start your own thread rather than hijacking somebody else's - there are lots of folks there that will be able to tell you if you are a British citizen.

Good luck.

"my citizenship was changed to Malaysian.....can I obtain my UK citizenship again"

Did you in fact have British citizenship?
If you did have it, how did you (or I suppose, rather your parents) renounce this citizenship. Was it done via Britain, or just to Malay authorities?
If only to Malay authorities, you probably are still a citizen.

This might be of assistance

As you were born after 1 January 1983 you would only be a British citizen if your parents were 'permanently settled' (held Indefinite Leave to Remain or Right of Abode) at the time of your birth or your parents registered you as a British citizen after your birth. Is this the case?

You say your parents 'changed your citizenship to Malaysian' - does that mean you have held a British passport in the past?

You can't work while on holiday in the UK.

You say you and your parents lived in the UK for 5 years. What was your parents' status in the UK at the time and did you ever hold a British passport?

I must admit that I read 'bank work' in the same way that SanDiegogirl did.

Your first move seems to be that you confirm with your parents what exactly their status was whilst in the UK.

What do they say about that?

Hi there...thank you for ur reply. I just confirmed with my dad.Apparently, I was not registered as A British Citizen. After being born in Lambeth,London.
I was registered as a Malaysian Citizen at the Malaysian Embassy. My dad was on a working Visa, did not obtain his Permanent Residence..where do I go from here.thank you

P.S: Yeah , 'bank work' seemed weird after reading it again sorry bout that
