Second question of the day from me

I currently live and work in Manchester but don't have suitable accommodation sorted for when my wife and child arrive. Would it be possible to put my Mum's address on the visa application form (she lives in Yorkshire about 2 hours away, owns her own home and has loads of spare rooms) with the aim that we would stay with her for a week before moving back to Manchester together to look for accommodation that we both liked? I don't want to sign a tenancy agreement by myself and then later find out that I can't add my wife's name to it. Or even worse, that she doesn't want to live in the place I've rented.

I don't want my application to look suspicious as the Home Office will clearly be able to see that I'm currently working in Manchester, so why would I put an address down that is two hours away? They may get suspicious that we are not planning on living together in the UK. Is there a minimum time limit for how long you need to stay in the accommodation listed on the visa application? If so, I may need to book some time off work as holiday.

You don't need to live in the accommodation you put on the form at all. You just need to have suitable accommodation available at the time of application.
