Lightbulb Accommodation requirement help

Hi everyone. Hope you are all well.
Just wanted to ask for e.g. if you are not using a family member or relative as a first port of call to stay with is it possible to rent a short term place online as it would be a little easier and then once we have got the visa to rent long term. Or is this not advisable, not sure how risky this would be or would it be better to go myself bk to the uk and find a property on rent? any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A short term let is perfectly OK. Many people suggest a furnished holiday cottage or similar which are usually good value out of season.
