Default About To Start The Spouse Visa Process

We are a UK passport holding husband (who has been overseas 17 years) and his non-EEA wife living in the UAE for 10 years with our UK passport holding daughter. We have the required GBP62,500 savings but not sure how we get our Jersey based on-line bankers to issue the needed paper/stamped monthly statements. Also, we looked at the UKBA website for spouse visa application forms and found only these categories, none of which seem to apply to a non-EEA spouse accompanying her UK partner, both currently based overseas:

1/Apply to join family living permanently in the UK
2/Apply to remain in the UK with family

Am I right in thinking that first getting a six months visa to enter the UK and thereafter applying for Leave to Remain for 2.5yrs is NOT the way forward and that the long term visa should be sought from overseas?
Has anybody gone through this process recently?

You would need to ask the bank to post your six months worth of statements or transactions on official paper with all bank account details included. UKVI need original statements which show you have held the required amount for at least six months. You will also need to declare the source of the savings.

Your husband is considered settled in the UK as soon as he lands so you do in fact apply to join family living in the UK. When you apply for further leave to remain in two and a half years, you will 'apply to remain'.

How do I declare the source of my savings? Can I simply write a signed statement or does it need to be independently verified?

If you have any evidence of how you got your savings, such as bank statements to show transfers from one account to another, it is good to include a few. If you were gifted any money for savings, you have to include a letter from the donor and evidence that they actually gave you the money ( loans are not permitted) . You should include their bank statement showing the money leaving their account and your statement showing the money being deposited in your account.

Our savings were from years of salary and were accrued several years ago so we no longer had bank statements as evidence but we each wrote a declaration stating my husband's job details and how we had saved over the years. Our declarations were accepted.
