My husband came to the UK on a spousal visa 2.5 years ago.
The correspondance we got said that we would get a letter in December 25 to let us know what to do next (think there were changes afoot.)
We didnt. His visa expires march 8th 2026.
We have really tried hard to get the information we need to see if we need to do anything but to no avail.
Can anyone help?

You don't get a reminder to renew your visa.... you need to do it before it expires.
You need to apply for Further leave to remain. Conditions are the same as the initial visa

As SanDiegogirl commented, no-one is going to tell you what to do - you need to organise this yourself and apply before your husband's visa expiry date.
It's generally a good idea not to apply until you are within 28 days of the expiry date of the current visa to ensure your husband builds up sufficient time to eligible for Indefinite Leave to Remain at the end of his second visa so applying anytime from this weekend onwards is ideal.
The requirements are largely the same as the initial visa with the major exception being that if you previously applied from outside the UK then your husband's income typically could not be used to meet the financial requirements but now it can be.
The application process is entirely online. Start here: https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa

My husband's 2 1/2 years is up on the 16th Feb. We have applied for the extension online (for next 2 1/2 years) and basically the process was the same. ( We applied using the savings route). He attended his biometric appointment yesterday, so the 8 weeks processing time starts from then. 🤞 we have supplied all they need. We were very happy that there was a biometric place in our local town, but we did have to wait 10 days for the next available appointment.

We used the savings route instead of income from employment as we are both retired. We needed to show a level of savings (I think it was £62500.00).
His visa ends on 16th Feb. We started the application about the 27th Jan, and it took us a couple of days to collate and upload all the required documents. Biometrics were booked for the 5th Feb, so had until then to get everything scanned and uploaded.
We needed to make sure he will get the full 5 years in order to apply for ILR after the end of this extension.
