Default 18,600 MIR Question Help

Hi all,

So, despite awaiting the new MIR rules to be released by the government anytime this month I'm not holding my breath for anything too drastically different, and thus despite being a medical student I'm trying to put together a plan to somehow reach the 18,600 requirement via both employed non-salaried income, & self-employed income (sole-trader) in the new financial year, to bring my American GF of almost 4 years to the UK to get married and reside here.

However, I have a few quick questions/clarifications I was wondering if you lovely folk could help me with?

1. Is it allowed for me to count towards the requirement, self-employed consultation income to non-UK citizens/firms who are outside of the UK, if I am based in the UK e.g. I consult to an individual in another country in my field of prior studies but do so from the UK via Skype/e-mail etc, although they wire the fee to my UK bank account....?

2. Does the self-employed income have to come from only one source, or can it be from several i.e. the most important thing is that the income is made? e.g. if I source my skills out to several different companies as a consultant and perhaps host a conference in the UK with international speakers? Is this likely to cause trouble with an immigration application, although it wouldn't be likely to pose problems for filing taxes per se, as many companies operate services for several other different companies at one time?

Thanks for all of your help in advance!

1. Yes.... you need to show all relevant documents for self -employment in the UK

2. You can have income from multiple sources for self employment - you just need to be able to show income and taxes paid as per self employment criteria.

Read the following documents carefully to see what you have to present for self employment:

Hi SanDiegoGirl,

Thanks for your response. I've read the guidelines but just wanted to clarify those 2 points, which you have done so for me.

I believe the HO are due to publish new guidelines in the coming weeks due to the MM case ruling in the supreme court, but many thanks for your help for now. I may be back soon looking for more help!!
