Default Macau

Hi

I see there is chat on this forum for mainland China and Hong Kong but does anyone have any experience or guidance they can offer for Macau. There is the possibility that me and my family might move there for work. We have a one and half year old son and a 2 and half year old daughter.

Accommodation wise we would be looking for a 3 bedroom property in a nice area for children to live in. Our daughter has been attending our local pre-school since her 2nd birthday and our son will be doing the same (if we're not in Macau by then). There seems to be plenty of web based information about schooling and education but very little about property. Of the information that is available I'm not sure if the prices stated are per month or per year.

Any advice and guidance on anything Macau related will be wonderful.

Regards

Phil & Alison

Hello there and welcome to the forum

I'm going to shift your thread over to the Hong Kong/China section as that's where most of the Macau threads can be found, and you're more likely to get a response in there.

Hi Bakedbean, sorry I though I had placed in the China/Hong Kong section.

Thanks

Phil

No worries....it's one of those countries that is a bit of a 'grey area' forum wise but I suppose should be in this section much the same as Hong Kong.

Lets hope some Macau residents will respond

Phil & Alison,

I am a resident in Macau. I think Taipa and Dynasty are the best areas to live in. I've checked some of the property agent websites for you. I'm not sure why some prices are ridiculously high but I think the reasonable price for 3 bedrooms flat is around MOP5,000 to MOP20,000 per month (that's very expensive).

Good luck
Iong

Hi, yes, except the few years of studying in the UK, I live in Macau for most of my life.

I don't think I'm qualified to discuss living there as I vacationed in Macau for all of two days. That said, I can imagine living there being reasonably comfortable, it's possibly the most European/US centric place I've been to in Asia outside of Hong Kong.

I'd imagine for folks in the Tourism business it would be a good place to live though outside of this, there doesn't appear to be any other major industries.
