In March and April 1999 Willem Wernsen made a trip of 5 weeks in China with his sister-in-law who is a Chinese translator and interpreter. He started in Hongkong and went from there to Canton, Changhai and Peking. From Peking by airplane to Shenzhen in the province of Canton, they spent the last 10 days of their journey in Kengzi. Kengzi is situated in a special economic zone that was founded by Dengxiaoping in 1980 to stimulate the economic activity in that area. He lived for 10 days between the factory workers in bizarre circumstances. All in all he had a marvelous trip with lots of photographic material.
