Default Having a baby in Mexico/passport

Hi, Myself and my partner are having a baby in the coming months , we moved to mexico a short while ago and would like some info as to travelling with our baby ie Travel documents needed to visit family.

Our baby will have dual nationality of English-Australian but we were told by a group of friends that our baby would also be eligible for a mexican passport and we should also apply for one ourselves, not sure of the benefits of this or if this is the case , can anybody help or has anybody had similar experiences.

Default Re: Having a baby in Mexico/passport

If born in Mexico, child will be a Mexican citizen/national, as far as I am aware.

Bear in mind that Mexican citizenship/nationality carries obligations as well as rights:
- possible military service;
- requirement to enter and leave Mexico on a Mexican passport
- it's not possible to get British or Australian consular protection in Mexico if also a Mexican citizen.

British citizenship. Are you sure the child will be British? If so, document with a British consular birth certificate: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Britis...en_Born_Abroad

Australian citizenship by descent, read etc, to see if child will be eligible.

Should you become Mexican citizens? If you know the language, society, culture, etc, and consider it home, then you should certainly think about taking out citizenship. But do be aware of the obligations involved, as well as the rights,
