Re: Turks & Caicos advice
I'm ok... I'm looking to move to the Turks in the late spring. I interested in finding out what's really going on in Provo and the other side of the island. This is in terms of business growth and crime. Do you have any insight on this topic?

Re: Turks & Caicos advice
Somebody has told me that their cousin left the TCI due to the expenses. They were on $12 000 a month and found it too expensive. We may move there shortly and would want a 2 or 3 bedroom house with at least a small garden for the kids to play.
They will need to go to nursery school.
Both my wife & i enjoy a beer and we both (unfortunately) smoke 20 a day.
Food requirements are pretty basic, (meat & two veg).
My wife would need a reasonable car.
What package would i need as i also want to save $2000 a month?

Ok, I can see this was posted at the tail end of 2006, but...
My young family & I are looking at moving out to the TCI - and have been looking at renting a property for 4-6 months while we explore the island & house hunt. But all the rental property websites we can find are aimed at holiday makers, and they're all looking at $1500-$1900 per week. Is there anywhere that deals with long-term rentals for "locals" rather than charging these extortionate rates? We really want to "go native", to get a realistic idea of costs for living, so we don't want panoramic views, cleaning services, hummingbirds waking us with fruit juices in the morning etc
Also, someone else mentioned contacting companies directly for job opportunities. I'm a specialist in IT (websites) although I do all sorts including IT support, training, as well as baking (a restricted profession, I know!) and mural painting. I've tried getting details for relevant companies, but there doesn't appear to be any sort of "Yellow Pages" that I can find, and most of those who have email addresses do not appear to work (even Cable & Wirelesses email account bounced back because their mailbox was full and their Fax number didn't receive my fax either!).
Many thanks in advance.
Phil
