Default Moving to Bermuda

Hi,

I have a job offer for a role in Bermuda and I'm trying to assess the pros and cons of moving out there in terms of lifestyle and financial benefits.

I am 28 years old and living in London on a comfortable salary which allows me to have a good social life and enjoy a few trips away each year. However after living here for 5 years I'm looking for a change of scenery and to save a bit of money.

The salary in Bermuda is paying slightly more than my current job and I've worked out I'll have +15% more net salary (after taxes and deductions) but I would like to know if this is enough to cover the higher cost of living. I have read about the costs on numbeo but the UK prices seem a bit low so I'm trying to work out just how expensive life in Bermuda is and whether the 15% increase is worth the move.

Has anyone moved from London to Bermuda in the last few years and if so, how would you compare the cost of living i.e monthly bills, socialising, food and drink, buying clothes, gym memberships etc?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

I have just stumbled across this two month old post, I only look here from time to time.

Did you make a decision yet? I would say Bermuda is hugely more expensive than London. I once bought a single tomato for a recipe, granted a very big tomato but it was $18 and I was too embarrassed with a long queue behind me to put it back.

If you want to go, go for the experience, which you might love, but don't go for saving money. Hmm although having said that, it is tax free income, have you compared take home to take home? If you are in a role that pays bonuses, getting those tax free helps savings.
