Re: Move the family to Bermuda?
Sounds like you would find it tough going on the salary you have stated.
We currently live in Bermuda and the rent you have looked at is relatively low. If you are thinking of a two bed house they generally start at $3500 to $4000 a month, then you need to add bills on top.
electric is quite expensive. We live ina one bed apt. and are out most of the day, we still get a bill of $200 a month. Generally this is closer to $400 - $500 a month.
Food prices seem to have gone nuts in the last 6 months. We spend roughly $1500 a month on food and thats just two adults and 2 cats.
Then you have to add the cost of a car, entertainment etc. If you were looking to save, it wouldn't happen.
You would also need to get permission for your wife to seek work. This may take a few months to organise. Working on the quiet is not recommended as they will throw you off the island without any hesitation.
Generally the island is nice as are the majority of the people. Brace yourself for some negativity though. Expats are not viewed in a favourable manner by the government, and you should expect to be on the recieving end of abuse from bermudians for taking there jobs, taking their money etc. this may occur anywhere from sitting at the bus stop, or walking along the street. You may also experience bermudians being very unhelpful in certain shops/gas stations where they will serve anyone but you at times. It can be frustrating.
