From a recent Harvey flood survivor: Stay safe. :fingerscrossed:. We were not impacted so much by the wind but by the rainfall and flooding. It can become very scary.

Hope you can hunker down and ride it out with no harm. Thinking of you guys:fingerscrossed:

Re: Hurricane Irma

I have been watching this grow from a tropical depression when it was close to Africa and move westward into what is now almost a category 5 hurricane. Forecasters have had it swing to the north-west into the Atlantic, then revise to hit the US east coast, then to hit Florida... I don't see it changing course. It keeps getting more powerful and heads to the west and somewhat keeps dropping southward. I think it's going to blow right through the string of Caribbean islands (including US virgin islands) and enter the Caribbean sea to the south of Puerto Rico, and then continue through the Caribbean sea and up to the Gulf of Mexico....EDIT: of course, having said that, now the next phase of the track shows a slight upward trend. Patience is a virtue while we hold our breath in Grenada...
The continuing track is shown here: http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/storms/IRMA.html

Not looking forward to this one, I've had it relatively quite since I moved in 2006 but Irma looks ominous. Hope all in the Caribbean stay safe.

Now cat 5, sustained winds of 185 gusting to 220 near the eye... Large eye has formed, hurricane is assuming what they called a buzz saw look?

From octv's latest review. Warnings issued for many of the islands, they said it was one of the most dangerous storms they have tracked.

Just saw pics from St Martin where the devastation is awful. My heart goes to all in its path, not sure there is anywhere safe from that monster. :(

Dropping in from northeastern US to say stay safe everyone. Saw heartbreaking video of St Martin and Barbuda and really feel for everyone down there.

How there haven't been more casualties (from what I've read) so far is incredible. So sad to see the total destruction of such beautiful islands. Hope everyone is ok. It doesn't really help but many of us around the world are thinking positive thoughts for you guys.
