This a bit of a long shot, but are there any expats out there living in Guadaloupe who could offer advice and/or a helping hand to my sister in law who is stuck on her own in a hotel while her husband is in the hospital after a heart attack on a Caribbean cruise ship? There are no English speaking guests at the hotel and she feels very alone. I guess this isn't the usual sort of post but I am just trying to find a way to help her. Her husband is waiting for an operation and is likely to be in hospital for at least another week- it's a long time for her to be on her own with no one to talk to. Any contact will be appreciated, thank you.

I did a google for British Consulate in Guadaloupe,
Consulate of The United Kingdom in Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe
Maybe they can help your sister in law.

Thanks Neil - I phoned the Consulate Assistance Team and they will ask the Consulate in Guadeloupe to call my sister in law on Monday (no one around at the weekend apparently) so I am hoping she will get some practical help. It would just be nice if she had a "friend" out there to talk to. I guess "Paradise" is a bit lonely when you are on your own.
