Two years yesterday!

Haven't posted in a while as I've been busy getting on with life!
Anyway, yesterday saw our 2nd Canniversary of landing and becoming permanent residents. Only 1 more year and we can apply for citizenship.
So what have we been up to? Pretty much what we were doing in the UK although we spend much more time outside walking the dog and generally relaxing on the weekends - unless we're hiking, skiing/snowboarding or watching the ice hockey!
Anyway, so far so good. Yes I still miss my friends and what family I have left but I do believe that the beauty of where we now live and the lives that we now lead far outweigh that. Besides we have new friends and technology make it very easy to keep in touch.
After all, in the big emigration scheme of things, if you don’t take a chance because you are afraid of failing, then you have failed anyway.
Good luck to all those still waiting to get here and well done for those that are pursuing their new lives with gusto!

Congratulations on your 2 years. I have just read through your blog which has made me feel a little less scared of taking the plunge. We land 19 December but unfortunately have to return 3 Jan 2010 and await the sale of our house.
We are both apprehensive about not securing jobs, the main reason for returning home. We are college instructors but looking to just get a job that will pay the bills.
Good luck for the future and I hope you continue to enjoy your life in Canada.

good luck
My wife was a college instructor, and found her degree was good enough to get on a school TA , which is very different to the Mums army in the uk.
We did the same landed with no jobs 2 kids and a dog, but 15 month on, own our own home, both working full time in decent jobs.
You are doing the right thing , good luck again.

congratulations on your Caniversary! Looking at your pictures made us feel so homesick, we lived in Whistler (Creekside) in 06/07 (did the BUNAC thing) and we loved it so much we decided to emigrate.
Well, our house sale is going through in the next couple of weeks (fingers crossed) and our PR cards arrived last week
We're planning to get everything organised to arrive next April. We'd love to come sooner, but with the Olympics on and knowing how hard some friends have found it trying to secure accommodation we thought we'd leave it until after the party's left town... although the party never really leaves town in Whistler! Looking to settle in Squamish/Pemberton this time though...
Anyways, congratulations again and if we see you around town or on the mountain don't be too freaked out if we stop and say hello! Having read your blog we feel like we know you now!
Best wishes,
Martin & Belinda.
