Well I can't believe we actually made it to one year but here we are, we survived our first year in Fredericton NB and still love it
We were one of those families who were undecided where to move to - Oz or Canada and for some reason we foolishly started the Oz visa process before having visited there. However after a trip out there we were not 100% convinced and thought we better at least visit Canada too, so in Sept 07 we had a reccie to Halifax & briefly visited Saint John as I had a job interview. We really loved Halifax but Saint John not so much. I did get offered the job in Saint John but as we didn't feel it was the place for us I turned it down. However in Dec 07 a very nice man on BE (you know who you are
) sent me a link for a job in Fredericton, I applied and in Jan 08 I had 3 phone interviews with the company, got the job in Feb and started in March 08!!! We arrived here on the 26th, was met at the airport by my boss and another girl in work, had one day off then started on the 28th!!! My job didn't require an LMO and we picked the TWP's up at the airport.
We have had our up's and down's here of course, problems finding doctors, OH struggling to find work, house not sold in UK but I have to say I don't think I have had any major home sickness. I actually probably speak to my mum more now over the webcam and they visited last year too. We settled in here really quickly and have made some fantastic friends. It's a great place to live and bring up a family - my son loves it here.
We did eventually find a doctor just outside Fredericton, OH is still struggling to find work and UK house is still not sold so things are still tough here but we do really love living here and are trying our best to make sure we can stay (we applied for PNP at the end of Jan this year). Honestly though we have no regrets about moving here
