I've been here for one year and five days now:
The downs:
- that one call (or email) that nobody wants to get, and no chance to get back.
- living with a roomie instead of having my own place like I did.
- the hassle of having to reaquire stuff.
- moving house when roomie bought a place
The UPS
- started my own business (http://webs.scentedalchemy.com if anyone's interested) which was far, far, far easier than either the UK or NL. Even with Health Canada registration!
- live in a very nice place now
- prospect of a house next year
- finished 9 months probation, and am on 1 year in my day job tomorrow! And its a step up from where I was in teh UK!
- almost everything I needed to replace, is replaced (car will be this month, and that's it! )
- got a very good social circle, with medieval society, and writers group locally
- lovely blue skies and dry air are doing wonders for my mood this winter, so that looks like a 'here to stay' feature.
One year in, i'm well settled and happy and getting on with my life.

I'll be on skype as soon as we have 'Net at the new place....one more year and I can get my place! wooohoo! Can't believe the year went this fast!
The only other downside was confirming a no gluten diet is the only way to go for me, but that would have happened in any country, so I'm not blaming hte Canucks for that!

Sue, I'm a good little dutch girl, i'll never give up my bike ;-) But I might upgrade it to a good little girls bike instead of a mountainbike with a basket on it.
Dave and Jules - thank you!
Journeyman, Thanks for the thoughts on the website - I'll work on that a bit! And yes, I have a table at the farmers market, all 24 of them (and the week before at the senior center in center nord. ) I must be mad! Still, a few weeks after start I can test my new shaving soap...with clay in it.
