!2 Months in Coquitlam
Well, tomorrow is our first anniversary of arriving in Canada, and i can't believe how well we have settled.
Getting here was relatively easy as my husbands employer paid for most of the move.
Although we are only on a TWP at the moment we bit the bullet and bought a house, settling nicely into suburban life in Coquitlam. My husband commutes downtown when he isn't on a plane and loves the West Coast Express, much better than the Bedford - Brighton line!!
My daughter has made lots of new friends and enjoyed school, her Canadian accent now blends with the rest of her class mates (to my ear anyway).
Contrary to a lot of folks, i have made some great friends, bonded so well that we are having a girls weekend away in Vegas!
I am starting work in September, i've been doing some voluntary work for the last six months, but i'm looking forward to earning few dollars.
Staying at home to settle us in has proved very useful, especially when it came to dealing with renovations.
We brought our dog over with us, she survived the trip and has been joined by a new friend/nutter.
Life is good, there have been very few moments of regrets. Perhaps the most difficult time was when our daughter as getting bullied, but that could have happened just as easily in the UK.
This site has been a great source of information, thank you for all the time and effort that folks put into helping us newbies.
There will be plenty more questions as we start the PR process!!

Congratulations! Well done The first year anywhere new is a bit fraught. Nice to hear that you are all settling in and starting to feel 'at home'. May your next 12 months be equally pleasurable!

Sorry not to have responded, the family arrived from the UK!
We love living in Coquitlam. We live just up the hill from the Coquitlam Mall, good school, great access to the West Coast express and even commenting by car isn't too bad. Great value property wise. If you want any further info and the name of a good agent DM me

When it comes to Coquitlam I have it. It's hot and only going to get hotter RE wise once skytrain is finished. If he's in a position to buy, I would do it.
