100th day today

We arrived with no jobs and two children. We found a rental in a good school area within a couple of weeks and Lucy's settling into part time S/K. Joe (who's 3) misses her as we've spent since June together as a family.
OH starts a job tomorrow. I'll miss him, but am looking forward to settling into this new routine. Making new friends isn't the easiest but no surprise there, it's just going to take time. Sigh.
Our local Walmart has just started stocking Ready Brek - my daughter's favourite - so life is good overall
I have a lot I'm grateful for and aside from the occasional 'omg what have we done!' it's going ok.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Congratulations...and not just on the Redy-Brek front! It must be hard with two quite so little ones, and them being separated in the daytime. We moved house when our son was four and he broke his heart, I felt wretched, six years on he can't remember our old house and no memory of the friends either! Hope all continues well for you, I'm into my third month now and 75% happy...I had a really tearful OMG day at the weekend, and I just try to think it's part of a process...a bit like moving a fridge, you have to let it settle for a while. Good luck!

Congratulations on your 100 days!! Its still early days and it takes time to adjust and settle in. So far as making new friends etc, are there any mum and tots groups nearby that you could go to? Having young kids is usually quite a good means of getting you out there meeting new people. Best of luck with everything.

Thanks both for your encouraging comments. I guess it is the settling time now - it felt like we were on an extended holiday for the first three months, all being together and exploring...and the weather helped
My 3 year old has found the move more difficult than my 5 year old. He told me this weekend that he hates Kingston and wants to move our rental back to England! We go to the park every weekday to meet up with another mum and some childminders which is starting to feel familiar and he looks forward to it. You're right though, it's time to join up with a group to get some playdates going especially now it's starting to get colder!

All I can say is that you have picked a wonderful part of Ontario to start your new venture. If I was in Ontario that is where I would want to be. Wish you all the best. Out of interest what drew you to Kingston?

Hi Gillan85
Thank you for your good wishes, and yes, downtown Kingston is beautiful. We're on the west side, so not quite so gorgeous, but really convenient for shopping! We thought it best to rent where everything is easily accessible for our first winter
We came to Kingston over 10 years ago so I could visit some of the correctional facilities (I was a Forensic Psychologist in the UK). We loved the city and came back every couple of years while waiting for our SW app to go through. Now we're here we decided I'd be a full time mum and OH would go back to work (he was a stay at home dad for 18 months in the UK). Happy to say I'm not missing prison at all
The more I'm reading up about other provinces, the more I want to see them all! I think it's going to have to wait until retirement though...maybe an RV will be the way to get to see the rest.
