Short Haul Truck Driver
- Salary: $22.00 to $35.00 Hourly for 50 hours per week, Piece Work, Medical Benefits, Dental Benefits, Life Insurance Benefits, Group Insurance Benefits, RRSP Benefits
- Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
- Location: Red Deer, Calgary, Edmonton Alberta
- Skill Requirements:
- Education: Completion of high school
- Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Driver's Licence (Class C+E), forklift certification an asset
- Experience: Experience operating forklifts and remote controlled picker cranes
- Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
- Type of Trucking and Equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles), Tractor-trailer
- Type of Travel: Short-haul, Local, Regional, Provincial/territorial
- Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Accident or incident reports
- Communication Equipment Experience: Cellular phone
- Weight Handling: More than 45 kg (100 lbs)
- Specific Skills: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Loading and unloading of goods, Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo, Plan travel schedules and routes, Use atlases and other trip planning aids, Receive and relay information to central dispatcher, Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, Perform preventive maintenance
- Additional Skills: Professionalism in customer service, Handle inquiries from customers, Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques
- Security and Safety: Bondable, Driving record check (abstract), Drug test
- Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
- Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver's licence, Travel expenses paid by employer
- Essential Skills: Reading text, Document use, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memory, Finding information, Computer use, Continuous learning
