Everyone has different experiences. I know people who love KLM. I did. I don't anymore. I've vowed to never fly North West again after being subjected to some of the rudest inflight crews on 2 out of 3 flights with them.

A lot of people wouldn't set foot on United Airlines. I find them very good.

It is basically down to personal preference, really.

I've flown 3 times with Zoom Airlines between August and October 2006 without any problems (Manchester Uk-Toronto twice, and opposite way once) and although these are my only experience of airlines I have no hesitation in flying with them again.

As for the 20kg baggage limit, on my last flight back to Toronto with my-now wife we had 2 large holdalls and 2 large rucsacs as hold cargo, total weight of 52 kilos with no extra charge. This was at a time when they were limiting the size of carry-on luggage due to a security alert so were putting just about everything in the hold.

I'm pretty sure had I been expected to land at Glasgow and didn't, I'd have been a little annoyed too! (where's the understatement smiley)

I flew with Zoom in October - not who I was going to fly with but due to complete screwup by Flightcentre my booked flights with another airline had been cancelled (and like the first poster - I didn't receive my notification ) - (BTW: AVOID USING FLIGHTCENTRE )

Anyway, I was travelling with two kids (youngest is 2) and I throughly recommend Zoom. The food is dire (pack your own) and the screens may not be working AOK, but the staff on both flights were just fabulous!

Cheap, and definitely cheerful

How the 'eck did she manage that? I had my cabin luggage weighed and had to book one in as luggage and was charged GBP6.00 per kilo excess!

Hi there,
We've just booked the one way flights with Zoom from Glasgow to Calgary for the 23rd of January, so the house sale better be completed without any glitches or murder will be committed.

Had some trouble when trying to book the tickets as the system wouldn't go beyond the "Confirm names to be same as on Passports".
Contacted with Zoom who said it was probably our computers security as they could get passed this page ok when they tried, lower the puter security to the point I was getting twitchy, still no difference.
The other thing I found was the seats available changed a couple of times, we were trying to book the seats with more leg room and another 10kg baggage allowance so figured the extra money charged would be worth it for the extra 10 kilos, but suddenly on one of my attempts to book the tickets it was telling me that there was only 3 seats available up front and one of us would have to sit in the economy seating. Contacted zoom, this time a Canadian voice, who confirmed that there was only 3 seats available up front and no we could not get the discount if the flight was booked by phone. I'll try later, thank you.

Last night I tried yet again, whizzed through the book in pages no problem and also booked 4 seats up front (printed out as many bits of paper to prove that these seats are ours, just in case).

Don't know if this was a one day hiccup in their system or we don't really have any seats available but we will soon find out on the 23rd of January.

Right I'm off to throw some more "STUFF" in the skip.

Take care and Happy Christmas when it arrives

Jim

We flew to Toronto to Gatwick last August and very happy with them and would use them again.

At TO we did not have hand luggage weighed, but on return at Gatwick the first thing the woman did was weigh hand luggage. What? Then the cases. We were grossly overweight and had to pay excess - I won't tell you how much. However, the plane was only half full - she must have known that!

I have spoken to a number of people who have left Gatwick and none of them had hand luggage weighed.

Next time we'll pay the extra for more leg room and more luggage weight.

This happened to us. I suspect they only target people who seem to have a huge amount of stuff with them. We had the economy premium upgrade, but were still more than 30 kg over the limit. They only charged us about £60 though, so that was nice.

Flying direct may not always be the shortest or best route.
I don't know where you get that from, but a look at the latest Aeroplan rewards chart indicates that you need 60000 aeroplan miles for one garbage class return ticket between Calgary and London.

Hi there,
That's nothing, we flew from Glasgow to Calgary and the plane dropped in on Manchester to pick up a load of folks then flew back over Glasgow to get onto the flight path.

Zoom's being doing the multi pick ups for a while now

Ah, they must have upped it. I thought it was 50k.

If Gothenburg to Toronto give 4500 miles one way I believ Calgary would be around 6000 miles. I think it was about 6000 miles London - Los Angeles. So a family of 4 would rack up just under 50k miles on return trips.

Sadly they take the more direct route. From http://www.whitakersalmanack.com/pdf...istanceair.pdf it's only about 4400 miles between Heathrow and Calgary.

I stand corrected. Just pulled up LHR -YUC on matrix and Ac give 4357 miles.

My mistake.
