As someone who is still deliberating over which end of Canada Hubby and I will settle down in I felt that I need a little more information on each of the different provinces.
I know I can look around the wiki section but I would really like a more personal outlook than just being diverted to relevant city/provincial websites.
So heres my proposal....
Hows about a sticky thread for each of the provinces giving members information about living and working etc in each province. written by the members for the members...
so what d' ya think then huh?

The wiki is for facts, rather than opinions.
The problem with any sticky post like that is it would only be peoples opinions, and everyone sees things differently.
Also no one ever reads the sticky posts anyway. or the wiki...

I brace myself for being told just how wrong i am in this generalisation, but.....
I think I am beginning to see a correlation between how far North Brits originate and how far East in Canada they relocate. (And vice versa.)
Although i could be wrong, I do know of at least one person who obeys this rule

)FWIW, Kamloops has the best weather in Canada, relatively limited career opportunities and has attractively priced real estate compared to other urban areas in BC.
Does that help?

There's no way the moderators will go for that. That's what the wiki is for. And some of the provinces are so large that they would need sub-threads; life in Thunder Bay, Ontario is going to be very different from life in Toronto.

Aberta has lots of mountains in the West, a bit in the middle called the badlands, then peters out towards SK to the East. It's very windy down south and f****g cold up North (though go to Drumheller for all above in one day).
Jobs are predominantly oilfield related - thats why AB is referred to as the Texas of Canada.
Small town AB is like a scene from deliverance and the two major cities (ie Edmonton and Calgary) are useful for what you need but don't seem to offer the cultural diversity of somewhere like Vancouver or the other biggies out east.
In short - if you want the cowboy lifestyle with some redneck thrown in, to be within driving distance of the rockies for the "we are very much outdoors people" cliche, and to keep the small town feel in a big province - then come on down

Just move to Newfoundland, there are no people and lots of moose, well actually, the locals have killed all the moose.
