Default York Emigrate Show

Have got tickets for the show in Oct (dates on 13th, 14th & 15th) however received a letter last week stating that due to unforeseen circumstances CHC would not be attending. Maybe they have a backlog and are all working overtime!!!!! Bang goes the opportunity to speak to someone face to face about our visa.

That's a shame .
We were thinking about going along as well.
Do you think it will still be worth a visit?
Do you know if they will be at the sandown show?

They heard I was going, to give them a piece of my mind! Pity, I was looking forward to speaking with the faceless wonders.

Why do you think they cancelled?

Seriously, I do not think that they fancied trying to answer everyone's questions as to why their system is so diabolical, and the ever growing waiting times.

It depends on what stage you are at and what you are looking to get answered? We went to the York show last year, just before we submitted our PR application and having the chance to get CHC to answer our queries was invaluable and well worth going for. But for us, the rest of the show had nothing new - we had already done lots of research on the net for the application.

Hiya, we have booked for the Sandown Show, which is the weekend of the 6th - 8th October, we haven't received anything telling us that CHC aren't going to be there (yet!).

I will be very peed off if they do cancel because that is the whole point of us travelling all that way. Think I would ask for my money back.

Is it possible for OP to transfer tickets to the Sandown show?

Just a thought.

Yes, I think you're right Gray.

It's not like they need to encourage people to apply, they can't cope with the numbers that have applied already!

That's a shame for you though Gray, it would have been an ideal opportunity to speak to someone face to face. When are the 60 days up?

Is that the date their new High Commissioner takes office or something? They're still leaderless in London, aren't they?

Well the ink is still wet on our skilled federal workers application, and as we can't leave for another three years (waiting to complete my training for Speech and Language Therapy)........think we'll give it a miss and trundle up there next year.

OH and I went to the Emigrate show in Glasgow earlier this year. Our PR application had already been submitted (AOR August 2005 - est. 36 months). We attended the CHC seminar and got some of our own questions answered in the Q&As session. It would be a real letdown for them not to be there.

Top tip - if CHC is there, get to the show just before opening time and make a bee-line to their stand. There were 3 reps there and we were attended to straight away. Later that morning the queue was very very long. :scared:

Manitoba and the Maritimes were very well represented. Disappointingly there were no official stands representing Ontario, Alberta or BC, although there were some realtors.

We were glad we went and came home with a load of brochures. We had no specific area of choice to land in Canada at that time and these exhibitions open your eyes to provinces you may not have previously considered.

I'd still go and maybe get in on some of those lectures that they offer, well they did in Sandown anyway. Learnt a thing or two on the pensions and tax front.
