Whichever one of the other parties is the closest to what they want of course...unless tactical voting to keep a worst case candidate out of power is likely to work. If they really dont like any of the choices, maybe they should stand for election themselves:)

Im afraid you cant argue that the 40% who didnt vote were against the elected party, they are just as likely to miss voting cos the party they support is a shoe in in their area, and they couldnt be bothered.

Before you start complaining about the nature of UK politics, think about Canada. We have a minority conservative government that's propped up by the quebec separatists that the vast majority of the country (perhaps especially those voting conservative) are little in agreement with. Strange bedfellows, but thats politics.

The more viable parties in a democracy, the smaller the overall vote for the winning party will be. If people vote for what they believe (or the closest available thing), then at least we would know the real views of the people and a case could be made for proportional representation. Of course the two largest parties are unlikely to go for that, as they have the most to lose.

Ha ha very true, I am restricted when I look after my kiddie winkles at work I am not allowed to do or say certain things like "bum" and "Baa Baa Black sheep" or climb trees

That seems ludicrous (Whats wrong with saying "Bum"?), but I can understand the need for posting about Peanut allergies at a public event (no peanuts allowed in schools here at all) or getting Santa police checked and not using flammable tinsel. All those "stupid rules" are by and large the result of someone else's misfortune at some time. I had to get a police check to coach timbit soccer here, and frankly I would have been concerned to put my kids in the league if it had not been required.

Can you imagine the media reaction is Santa turned out to be a paedophile, or a kid died of anaphylactic shock or the village hall caught fire and burned down due to cheap tinsel catching on a candle? (Can you tell Im on the safety committee at work :rolleyes: )

Didnt bottom = bum exist a long time before hobo = bum? Presumably thats where the perceived "offence" comes from? Bottom makes no sense anyway, your bum is no where near your bottom...that would be your feet wouldnt it?

Hmmm, perhaps you should start saying "fanny" instead...it will be good practice :cool: :D I imagine the PC brigade would damn near choke on their chamomile tea at that one.

omg how funny would that be when I went to Canada they used it (the word fanny) and I nearly choked it's just not something you hear here.

Did you know it's not pc anymore to say "brain storm"?

How funny was it when I said the word "fag" over in Canada instead of cigarettes, everyone else nearly choked.

There was so many funny stuff I did when I was over that my Canadian friend laughed at e.g. Gordon and I going to the wrong sides of the car when I was supposed to be driving. Had such a laugh.
