Default Working self-employed from home in Canada

Hey,
I'm about to be hired as a medical transcriptionist for a company based out of Australia but I would like to be able to remain in Canada. I'm currently a visitor after my work visa ran out which gives me a chance of vacation.
What I'd like to know is what visa do I need to work from a home in Canada, online for an Australian based company?

I do have the option to be sponsored by my aunt in Winnipeg but I would rather not move out East from BC as I don't drive and love living in BC.

Any help is appreciated.

You don't need any visa as working online for an employer based outside Canada is not considered as work for work permit requirements. How long are you planning and staying in Canada for? Did you extend your stay after your work permit ran out?

The visa I was on couldn't be extended so I went down to the border and came back in as a visitor. But I've read I can't keep border hopping.

I'd like to stay permanently but I don't have the requirements to apply for PR yet.

If they stamped your passport then you have 6 months from the date of that entry. After that you will either have to extend your stay or leave Canada. If you want to stay permanently then you will need to find a way to obtain PR status.

So, to which country will you pay taxes?

Winnipeg is not "Out East" (Just had to get that out of my system!).

You are right that you will not be able to remain indefinitely as a visitor via flagpoling/border runs.

Have you read the WIKI about the various ways to get PR/a work visa? Any love interest in your life? (No, I'm not being gratuitously nosy - the more info you share will help us help you).

How/under what program might your aunt sponsor you?

As I'm in Canada it'll be to the Canadian government. I've paid taxes and worked in Canada for two years previously but none of that seems to matter to the Immigration Office.

I started in Ontario so after coming all the way over to BC even Calgary is father east than I'd like to go! Haha.

I have no love interest mainly because of my fragile visa status. Nobody wants to get serious with someone who can be deported.

My aunt can sponsor me under the Family Class Sponsorship in Manitoba. I'm sure its a lovely province but the thought of moving away from what I have established here is terrifying. I wish she could sponsor me and that I could remain here in BC. The only reason I'm not working now is because I legally can't, if they'd let me work I'd be self sustaining with my own health insurance. I would be no burden to the state but that means nothing to them.

I suppose it depends on just how badly you want to remain in Canada....

What visa did you originally come over on; what was your job before said visa expired; how long did you work for on that visa?

ETA: just reread properly and see you've been here for 2 years?

I had been on two separate one-year IEC visas and worked for Chapters, The Source and Staples. Most recently Staples who would have signed me on to work there if they were allowed to hire foreign labour in retail anymore. They're understaffed so I wouldn't be taking any Canadian's job but whatever.

They've now changed the IEC length for 2 years a piece, but I can't reapply on that because of restrictions on how many you can be on.

I know that if this is my only way to stay in Canada I'll have to do it because I will not go back to the UK. Equally I don't know if I could bollocks up my life again.

The CIC website mentions nothing about this type of job in the self-employed section so I'm going to try and call on Monday when their centres are open.

Were any of the jobs you have done here in Canada NOC A B or 0 levels and for 12 months?

(I don't think medical transcriptionist is going to work for self-employed route).

What are you lacking to apply for PR. I guess is what I'm asking?

Retail jobs no longer count as of February this year. That's all I've done in Canada.

Retail jobs, depending on skill level (which is why I asked) can still "count".

I.e. Were you a cashier or a supervisor?

Sales. When I looked at the skill levels I wasn't included. At a push I'd be C Class.
