I am still thinking of doing contract work overseas as find job market here both lower paid and somewhat stifling.

Will there be tax benefits? Do I have to go through a Canadian accountant. Will it help with Forex fluctuations?

Are you planning on living in Canada or UK?

If in Canada and genuinely self employed (by CRA definition), more deductible items than as an employee.
You don't have to go through an accountant, that is a personal choice. You can do your own accounts.
Will what help with FX fluctuations? If you earn in one currency and keep in that currency, fluctuations are not an issue. If you convert currency, FX rates are an issue. If you hold funds in a foreign currency, currency gain can become a taxable item.

Where are you at the moment? I'm not sure you can just come and do contract work. Are you Canadian? Do you have a visa in place?
