Exclamation working with gas

Hi There,
I have just joined, great forum. My question is regarding the registration of domestic gas engineers in Canada. Does anyone know how to go about the process?
Here in the UK I am a member of corgi and I work for Baxi potterton as a service and breakdown engineer, it would be great to here from any domestic gas engineers who have relocated to Canada.
Thanks
Mark (boiler boy)

Mark you wouldn’t want him with you, try this link should give you the information you require http://workdestinations.org/view_pro...=20812&lang=en
Basically you will probably have to take a written test and then you are only classed as a Grade B Gas fitter
I also worked for Potterton for 10 years left six years ago though still registered as a Sub Contractor to Baxi Potterton, I may change occupation when I hopefully arrive in Canada but may try to register anyway as a fall back
I am off to Summerland in the Okanagan Valley AOR March 04
What about you ?
Regards Mick

Slightly off the theme, why did you choose the Okanagan Valley? Any info would be welcome as I can't make it out to visit for various reasons and it sounds good!

Hi Mick,
We basically have only just decided that we would like to leave the country and haven't even done any forms or anything yet. We, my wife and two sons aged 4 and 7, are basically looking at our options at the moment, but we do know that we DONT want to stay in england.
I have been in the trade for two years now and the mrs is a pharmacy technician with 8 years experience. we were looking at the areas outside and around Toronto, been looking at properties on MLS and trying to find out about schools etc, but its just to give us an idea of the place as we haven't yet actually visited canada but we intend to do so as soon as funds allow us. Are you off for a trip, or are you going for good in march?. Perhaps you could give us some tips on how to get the ball rolling with the offical paperwork as I understand you've done all of that, is it best to get an immigration expert to do it for you or is it possible to do it all yourself?
thanks for help, cheers, mark .

Unless you have complications with your application i.e. adopted children living in different country’s I would suggest you complete the application yourself its not that complicated and you have to gather the information your self anyway see Canadian immigration forum links from this site in all it took us 3 months to gather all the paperwork AOR in March means that was when CHC acknowledged receipt of are application which we sent in January we are hoping to receive Visa by this Autumn if we are lucky, it’s a long old wait but Gas Fitters seem to be pretty much in demand in Canada make a change to see someone else in a trade applying most people on these forums seem to be in IT.

We went on a trip last April and fell in love with the Okanagan Valley it ticked all are boxes neither me nor the wife are keen on large Cities, The lake and scenery did it for us along with the friendly people also probably has the best weather in Canada, Only downside is the employment issue that was not such a big thing for us as we plan to buy or start up are own business.
We were going to try Vancouver Island after spending a few weeks there on Holiday but a number of factors made us change are minds mainly threats of earthquake and the weather but I still think it would be my second choice, the Toronto side of Canada seems to cold for me then to humid in the summer
Regards Mike
