Hi All
Does anyone have any up to date info on how long CIC London are taking to process a temp work permit application?
The Robot on the end of the phone still insists this is between 10-15 days.
However, it took us almost 3 months to get he HRSDC approval as they had a backlog.
Do London CIC have any backlogs, if not we should be hearing tomorrow, as today is day 14 (working days).
Very excited.
Thanks
Tracey

Hi,
You put your thingy in the wrong forum, you will get more replys in the immigration forum. It took them 16 working days to respond to us (for more information) so it would I'd say it looks pretty hopeful that you will hear in the next couple to days.
Where are you going??

They wanted police checks from us, but we knew they'd want those from us anyway.

I don't think so, they only asked us because my boyfriend has a criminal conviction dating back 17 years and we declared it on our form.
From what I have read before if have a totally clean record you won't need to submit police certificates.
When are you going and where??

Oops sorry about putting this in the wrong place.
Oh my God, looks like it will be pretty quick then. My hubbys employer in Canada is chomping at the bit to get him over there now, so hopefully we should have some good news for him very soon.
Thanks

Hi Tracey
We are in Canada waiting for HRSDC approval.
which office did your approval come from. Our application has been sent to the Edmonton Office. We are just going into week 8 of our application being submitted. Once we have it we are just going to go to the border crossing at Niagara to get the actual permit.
thanks

a friend just moved out here. Not sure how long the actual visa took, but he got the job, packed up and moved all within 8 weeks.

We got our HRSDC approval from Edmonton too. They did have a 12 week backlog when we applied. It took about 11 weeks, so hopefully yours should not take too much longer. We decided against the border crossing entry, as we still needed to do things here before we left. We still have jobs here. Once we hear from CIC London though we will be off in a week. Where are you hoping to live and work?
Cheers

Yes originally we were gathering all the paperwork for the full immigration, and were ready to go down that route.
Hoever, we then went to Canada for a month and my hubby was lucky enough to be offered a really good job, so we changed direction and went for the work permit option. Hopefully, all being well, we will get the permit extended and apply for landing after the first year.
Thanks for the good luck. Where are you in Canada?

Hi Tracey
We live in Barrie about an hour north of Toronto...so I am hoping to stay near home because of the children etc...plus I don't want to do the commuting thing again..did all that when we lived in the UK. Hubby will be travelling up and down the 400 highway with his job...so he will be pretty much everywhere!
Thanks for your advice.

Hi Tracey,
We are hoping to get to North Vancouver - serious fingers crossed. Having sent our police certificates to them on Wednesday now we have to wait - again.
