Woo hoo, at last - only 6 months later.
Now - does anyone know, do I just staple the new document into my passport? Do I need to remove the old one?
Thanks

Your actual WP application can be done right up until the day your WP expires - though that is, of course, not recommended to leave it that close!

Well you would need to get a new LMO and that can take some time - so you should probably start looking at it mid - October time - at least trying to find out how long NS are taking to prepare LMO's and if a long time, then start the part then.

The second and third ones, each for 2 years, were posted to me, and I've simply tucked them into my passport, and just shown them to the IO each time I've travelled. No problems doing this until earlier this week, when a grumpy female IO told me that the TWP must be stapled to the passport. Interestingly, despite the fact that she almost certainly was in possession of a stapler, she didn't do it herself, she told me to do it when I got home. I did tell her that no other IO in the past 3 years had mentioned that the TWP needed to be stapled to the passport, but she gave me a hard stare and I decided that perhaps silence was the option that would serve me best at that moment.
Also interestingly, she didn't stamp my passport, instead she stamped the WP itself. I was quite glad about that, because I'm running out of room in my passport.

I'm on my third TWP. The first one, for 3 months, was stapled into my passport by the Immigration Officer at the airport.

One thing I'm learning through the whole process of work permits, PR etc, is that consistency is hard to come by...
