In a nutshell though, it's just an open visa for a year that pretty much anyone 18-30 can apply for, the only difference being whether it's a student or non-student visa you have, for which you would have the former if you're taking a deferred year. The visa types are no different once you arrive in Canada.

Bear in mind that a lot of people do Work Canada as a gap year before or after university, or as a career break for those who already have one. As they're really there for the novelty of being in another country, to have new experiences and relax - and are often not stacked with cash either - they tend to do more casual jobs such as those you mention. You can go there through BUNAC and look for career work though, and there are people on this forum who have done so and gained permanent residence thereafter. However as you're only part-way through uni it may be better to just go and find whatever work you can, as even if you did find a professional job you'd have to gve it up to go back to uni. You would be eligible for another visa in the future when you could go back again, should you enjoy it the first time. Incidentally you can do an IAESTE placement after you're graduated too, and that can be near enough anywhere depending on what they offer.

Thinking about it if you were to follow what I've just said you'd basically be mirroring my life plan from the last 3-4 years but hey, you could do worse :p.

Respectively; simple as long as you read the instructions carefully, no, and in your case just that you have a university place confirmed after you return from your BUNAC year.
