It was minus 30C this morning walking the dog (retriever/border collie x) so she had her boots on for the first time in weeks. She's a bit sorry for herself when we put them on her but as soon as she's outside, it's all forgotten.
Heard an alternative to the boots is to trim the hair between the pads. With the snow melting and refreezing between the toes and pads into ice cubes it makes it difficult and painful for dogs to walk. It doesn't really help the real cold but with wet snow, you won't need the boots.
Most groomers will do it or if you don't mind sharing your beard trimmers with the dog, have a go yourself!

Good news - my dog loves her jersey (fits me too ) but those booties I bought are quite stiff and look like they can slide off with the slightest hint of snow dragging them down - hmm, will have to see. Perhaps I'll just let her borrow my socks instead!! (Only joking !! )
