What you want is a Big Red side-by-side on tracks. Just the thing for plowing snow.

All joking aside and as a slight thread drift - it is a consideration. (Not the side by side - we have no need for one of those) - however I presume the cost of the tracks and blade wouldn't really pay for themselves - or do they????

The side by side isn't mine, it belongs to a buddy. You don't need tracks to use a blade on a bike although it sure as hell gives you a lot more traction. Tracks are around $5kish so not worth the investment for plowing alone. And if I wanted something to have fun in the snow and had $5k to spare I'd pick up a used skidoo.

My snow clearing tools are illustrated. The quad I have anyway and the blade cost me a case of wine to the fella I bought it off. Truth to tell I usually end up using the snowblower as it's quicker and does a better job. Is it worth investing in your own snow clearing equipment vs. getting in a man with a truck and plow? Well that depends on how much snow you get and how big your drive is. At some point however, the having your own toys factor kicks in though.

They're mandatory here in QC.... I think the fit-by date is 15 November.

They make a huge difference.... but I'm not looking forward to buying them for my new motor! Goodbye, couple 'o grand.

confirmed this today, the TPMS will be fine as i'm just keeping it on the original rims!

i'm gonna get the brakes done at the same time, its an expensive visit! but funnily enough, cheaper than getting Crappy Tire to do it...and i'm getting OEM spec gear fitted by Honda technicians

Ask at your honda dealer if they have any stock rims in the back. Lots of people when buying new trucks will upgrade the rims, and the dealer will knock some money off and keep the ones that came with.

They subsequently sell these off and they are really good to put your winter tires on - so you don't go through the issue of taking the rubber off - you just switch wheels!

Edited to add this is obviously a tip for next year. Also if you don't have a garage to store your spare set in, some dealers will store them for a small fee.

And Yes they do check - at least here in BC they do.
Agreed! On Highway 1 anywhere near Hope and beyond to the East it is the law that you must have winter tyres (or snow chains, I believe) or you are taking a big risk of a fine or being uninsured.

I was about to get my Honda CRV some winter wheelies from Kal Tire. I contacted another shop (Urban Expressions) that is well know in the European Car club community in Calgary. He told me its best to mount original wheelies rather that upgraded rims due to handling issues(specific to the Honda CRV).

Yup thats what I was saying - get some of the stock rims that people have sold to dealers when upgrading their trucks to 22" chrome blingers!!!

Hubbys truck has 16"rims these are having the winter tires on and a new set of rims and tires when spring comes around.

Winters tires definitely make a difference. You will see plenty of people in their cars slipping, sliding and getting stuck on the roads with all seasons. A few years ago I had to rent a car that only had all seasons and I honestly thought I wouldn't get home alive after driving home in the snow. It was awful.

Last year I traded cars from a CRV to a Ford Escape so had to get new tires. This time I got studded winter tires and rims (originals are chrome so don't want to ruin them). Costly at around $1300 but they will last me the next few years until I change my vehicle again - of course that means my all seasons will last twice as long too. I made sure my son had studded on his car too. Safety first!
