Hi everyone, thanks for all the replys on the job situation post, after doing some research, it looks as if it's down to a straight choice of Winnipeg or Calgary what does everyone reckon?
My hubby's occupation looks like he will get a provincial nomination from Manitoba so we would get there probably quicker or is it worth waitng and going to our first option Calgary.
It would be interesting to have differing people's views on both places, (I.E. Education, Sports, Social life, Cost of living etc.)
I myself like the look of both places, but it would be an expensive trip with 3 kids to try and visit both before we make a decision.
Please help us as my hubby isnt the most decisive of people and would take any advice posted.
Cheers and I'm still:

My opinion is that if you can get to Winnipeg quicker and easier then go to Winnipeg. After all you might find you really like it once you get there. I know that Winnipeg is not near the mountains but they have some absolutely gorgeous beaches on Lake Winnipeg. And if you decide to move to Calgary later on - it will be much easier!

winnipeg has the cheapest living and cheapest housing to purchase, the city has lots to offer children and culture.
we chose winnipeg because the unemployment was the lowest and they have lots of organisations for immigrants,

I'm not sure Manitoba nomination is necessarily quicker - we applied Feb 2002 and were approved a week ago so took a good 20 months to go through! Still, crime rate is low, cost of living and cost of housing is low (and temperatures are low
). I'm not sure about Calgary though. If I find any stats. comparing the two I'll let you know!
Here's one to get started (called the Manitoba advantage so it's obviously biased but it does have some interesting comparisons on there to other provinces) Go to http://www.gov.mb.ca/finance/reports/pdf/advantage.pdf (one of them there acrobat reader thingames!)
