Default Winnipeg - Any Tips?

I'm currently in Winnipeg and have done pretty much most of the tourist things within walking distance of where I'm staying. It's called the West End, or so I'm told (it appears to be where Boys N' the Hood was filmed).

Anyway, I have two nights left and am looking for somewhere less depressing to go within walking distance of my location (Notre Dame and Maryland). Any tips?

Try having a pint and a curry or fish and chips at the Kings Head pub in the Exchange District located at 120 King St.
If you like architecture around that area you will see why Winnipeg is known as the Chicago of the north.

I walked around there yesterday and, I'll be honest, it didn't really remind me of my visit to Chicago. I could do with a decent feed though so maybe I'll head down there for a bite to eat. Thanks for the tip.

Think Chicago of the 30s and not the modern buildings

That's a bit before my time. But, having said that, when I went to the Green Mill cocktail lounge in Chicago it was kind of like that area. I might go an watch the Winnipeg Goldeneyes play rounders this p.m.

As Steven Wright said "Everywhere's within walking distance if you have the time"...With that in mind, how far's the airport?

I've been told Corydon is nice but it's too far to walk to and the public transport around here is confusing at best. I'm going to give Osbourne Village a look. Apparently it was voted 'Canada's Best Neighbourhood'.

Probably to late
for public Transit get on a bus and talk to the drivers 99% will help.
Call 311 for information on howto get from where you are (literally the street address) andd where you want to go.
Go to the Library on Graham and pick up the time tables.

I did the Winnipeg visit 15 years ago on public transit. Has change much a all.

Must confusing thing is 2 buses on opposite sides of the road with the same number and destination.....

Also ask in the shops tell them your new and looking for XXX can they help.
Most people will

Did you do Earls on Main? to get to croydon you need a 18
