I agree. Have the proverbial "shopping basket" and Sobeys is quite a bit more than Superstore/Loblaws.

But there are some honourable exceptions, sometimes with enough differences to justify taking a trip there rather than Superstore. And not just because Sobeys is next door to the liquor store.

Well this is Canada, you can't get everything at one shop like you can in some other countries. I can remember on a couple of occasions going to Loblaw's, then the Co-op, then London Drugs, then Sobey's, then the butcher's just to get different food items.

But the bulk of stuff I buy at Loblaw's. Got a three-pack of chunky Kit-Kats yesterday for 74 cents, that has to be a pricing error.

We ended up doing that (making an extra trip) to get some parmasan cheese - the decent stuff which pongs!

And now they've taken over Safeway as well so it's only going to get worse.

I found Sobeys in Ontario to be reasonably priced compared to the (non-superstore) Safeway's, Save-On's we have in Vancouver.

I am not aware of any Sobey's in Vancouver.

Isn't it funny how threads can about anything but if they involve a comparison about costs they always revert back to cheese.

:hysterical:

If you look at the smiley, it was a wink - it was a tongue in cheek observation.

You will find hundreds of people on BE who enjoy living in Canada, however, being Brits (mainly) there is nothing like a good old moan from time to time. In addition, after being here a while people realise that nowhere is the land of milk and honey, day to day life remains similar no matter where you live and there is good and bad points about anywhere. It's called reality kicking in, lol.

;)
