Yes, first Christmas here in Canada for us and the first one away from our families.......................mixed feelings about that.........on the one hand looking forward to a break from the big family get-together and the old routine, but on the other hand we don't doubt it will feel a little strange with just the 4 of us this year. Not to mention the fact that when we are just getting up with 2 over excited children, everyone in the Uk will be polishing off the last of the too hard sprouts.
Had an idyllic image of enjoying a white Christmas over here.....................don't disappoint us Canada

This will be our first christmas away from home for 30 years!!! I have always had everyone here. My husband has his PRV in his passport and he plans to 'land' 17th December! We are there for three weeks and are getting very excited. We are, however, having pre-christmas here before we go, inviting all friends and family for a pre-Christmas day and boxing day!! Kids think it is great having two christmases. Spending up to christmas day in Calgary with family and then going to Fairmount with my cousin and her family for a bit of fun for four days. Will be looking at property and sorting out social insurance cards etc. whilst in Calgary, and when we return husband will have to make biggest decision of his life (apart from marrying me that is)to move or not to move!!!
at the moment busy decorating our dining room which hasn't been done since we moved here in 74 and eldest daughter (18) keeps asking why we are doing all this work if we are going to move!! I keep asking myself as it is a mammoth job, finally discovering what the wallpaper was hiding underneath!!!
My best wishes to everyone for a great Christmas wherever you may be.

Five years and counting since I arrived and my life has so far been entirely sprout-free.
Is Britain the only country in the world to have, as a festival delicacy, something that most other people would feed only to farm animals?

Edited to add that this is my 5th Christmas here. I remember the first being very disappointing as there was no snow and a warmer than usual winter so it wasn't much different from what I was used to in Alabama. Since that first one though I have had a white Christmas and hopefully will get one this year too.

The parents were supposed to be coming over for a couple of weeks in January. They've decided that they can't make it due to other commitments.
They were supposed to be coming for Christmas this year but have decided that they will come next year instead, when I was planning to go on vacation

We arrive in N.S on 7th December.....for our first Canadian Christmas......the packers arrived today and will be gone by Friday morning..then its a whistlestop tour of friends and families until we fly out.
The kids are very excited and we are praying for our first Christmas in Nova Scotia to be a white one.....that really would be the icing on the cake....

By all accounts there isn't usually snow in NS until January (apparently), so at least we'll be driving into a white christmas.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, decides when they will or will not come to my home. They get an invite. Take it or leave it.
