Default whirligig (washing)

Ok I have had a look for a whirligig and can`t find one, where do I find it in Ontario? what shops do I go into to find it...

Not going to have much room with the pool, so thought this would be the best bet, plus it can be put away quick too....better than a line

Ah, right - it took me a minute or two to think what a whirligig is...........gotcha. Have you tried the TSC stores? Seem to remember seeing them there, but come to think of it, I can't remember seeing any in the gardens...ooops, backyards....over here.

Tell me bout it! When we were signing out papers for our house we asked our lawyer and he basically said - why would you want one of these, the community associations are trying to keep the community "nice to look at" and you would likely get a complaint from a neighbour......hmm !

We didnt put one up for that matter, didnt want to concrete it in then have to take it out....i just put the clothes horses on the deck. Not the same though, they blow over :curse:

We're in Calgary and I seem to remember that there was some by-law against pegging out your washing. Anyone know why?

Becuase it doesnt look good!! ??? I dont know but i would think this is why, who cares, lets use our dryers less!!

I have to admit, i still hang dry almost everything i have, a habit i've yet to break!

Some older communities in calgary allow it, if you go to some of those communities in the SW you'll see whirlygigs and clothes lines out in the gardens

Know idea, but I use mine anyway.

If I do get someone knocking on by door saying there are by-laws against it then tough, my arguement is......... I thought we were suppose to be saving the environment.

Good article. All in favour of the 85 year old standing her ground. I really don't see what the problem is having your washing on a clothes line. I could see the problem if people put the washing out the front of the house, but surely if its in your backyard not that many people would be able to see it?

I suppose the only other problem with hanging your clothes out would be the phantom pant nickers who might take a fancy to some of your smalls? Back in the UK there was a serial pant pincher who must have had a massive pile of pants in his shed or something. I think they eventually caught the person. Weird!

I know that in the last place we rented (town houses) before they had put up the fencing, we where not aloud to hand washing, also in new developments, as it was ment to be unsightly.. (for them selling houses ect), But in older homes I didn`t think it was a problem when you had your own back yard. Also think its a laugh when they push for you to recycle but you can waste as much lekky on the dryer as you like..lol
