Perhaps somewhere in the depths of Hungary, there exists a forum where would-be emigrants ask each other questions like, "Where would you love to live - Peterborough, Swindon or Derby?"
Coquitlam is a basically a suburb of Vancouver. It's ok, but it's not somewhere to live the dream. The problem with the three choices is that they are all places you end up rather than have a desire to go to. Like Stoke, or as you say Swindon. |
Re: WHERE WOULD YOU LIVE? A WEE POLL...
TBH it isnt Nanaimo that is the place...Its the little places beyond......Like Nanoose Bay with lots of little nooks down to the ocean, amazing views, fab people, 10 mins drive to town....brilliant. It is the place.

Re: WHERE WOULD YOU LIVE? A WEE POLL...
I think the poll misses the point. In BC, apart from Vancouver, Nelson and possibly Victoria, the towns and cities are not destinations in themselves, but a means to an end.
Kelwona - the beach apart, it's an ugly an uninspiring place (IMHO). However, if you want to live in the Okanagan and experience all it has to offer, then Kelowna is the most likely place to find a job. Coquitlam - a relatively affordable suburb of Vancouver. There's nothing wrong with Coquitlam. It is just that if it wasn't next to Vancouver there would be nothing to go there for. Nanaimo - another underwhelming place IMHO. But, within minutes you have beaches, views, forests and mountains. In other words, the OP shouldn't be asking which city to live in, but what lifestyle he wants and pick the place that offers this lifestyle. Or, more realistically, a job. |

I thought Kelowna was ugly. Just a big traffic jam with big-box stores lining it all the way through.
That's the problem if you only drive through, all you see is the highway, the big box stores and the endless traffic lights, it isn't pretty in summer and damn right ugly when all the snow turns brown. There are plenty of nice areas and views all around Kelowna and West Kelowna but you have to leave the highway! Don't understand why the OP decided on these 3 places in particular. |

Hi
Deep down,If the family could speak fluent spanish, somewhere near valencia, spain. But as we don't speak a sufficient level of spanish:thumbdown: Vancouver, it gives in our opinion the best all round chances of the kids getting a job when they leave school. we considered the other places, but the kids job prospects were high in our personal wants list. cheers jerry |
