Default Where to or not to look Regina

Hi
I wanted to know are there any places in Regina that we should stay clear of when looking for rental property. Or any comments on where we should look in particular. I don't think we will get a car too soon after landing so we won't be straying outside the city.
Thanks

Stay away from North Central(the hood),Cathedral can be good/bad.Truth be told, you will need a car to live in Regina.Lakeview(nr airport) is good for rentals.
What are you looking for ? Condo, house, any family or pets ? Try checking the website for the Regina daily paper,Leaderpost.com

Hi
We are looking for somewhere cheap to start with, staying there for 1-2 years so we can scout around and decide if/where we wanna buy. 2 bed. We have 2 dogs. If we need a car that won't be a problem.
Thanks again

As I said before any house with the block number 600-2000 should be avoided. The East end of the city is great for shopping and has some restaurants and bars, its a good place if you have kids. However affordable rentals are really only in Glencarin and that can be a bit of a rough area. The transition area is great for being close to downtown but not many houses there so not great for dogs. The Cathedral is a great area for being close to downtown and close to good bars and restaurants. Its a big artsy fartsy and has some low income housing. Lakeview is nice as well but when we almost moved there hubby was upset that there was no bar that was a short stagger home. Most neighborhoods in the North End are really bad or really dull.

I am curious to know how bad bad is. We have lived in some pretty poor areas as we have moved around in the past. Can you give a quick description on what you mean by bad area in Regina. For example, in the city I live in currently, one of the 'bad' areas has alot of drugs related criminals who you wouldn't want to live next door to and you certainly wouldn't feel safe going to the local convenience store after dark. Is it like this in your cities poorer areas?

Thx again

Compared to some of (MOST) the inner cities in England, living in Regina is a breeze. You'll find crime central where the First Nation live, harsh but true.Depends on where your job is based ,on where you want to live.Have a ring road around the city so most areas are easy and quick to get to,a car is pretty important though. No road tax or MOT's to worry about, and fuel is dead cheap.
