I actually haven't, but, I'm not that keen on spending the money and not staying. All for a jump into the 'relative' unknown

I wouldn't pay much attention to dbd's opinion of Calgary.

Yep, I'm reading into Calgary at the moment. Although as with Toronto and Vancouver, it's not easy to find a website that covers all the rental options in that area.

Yes it is. https://www.rentfaster.ca/

Richest city, in the richest province in the confederation. Yes there's an oil downturn right now, but it won't be for long.

The rockies are on our doorstep, choice of a number of world class ski resorts a short drive away, 2 of North Americas largest urban parks, substantially higher salaries than Vancouver, substantially lower cost of living, no provincial sales tax (VAT), frequently ranked in the top 10 cities in the world to live in, etc.

Calgary is going through bad patch at the moment as a result of the oil price decreases. Historically Alberta is the strongest economy in Canada but it is very dependent on oil price.

for rentals in Canada try Craigslist or kijiji.

Thanks Engineer and Photo. I was a little reluctant to use craigslist given its dodgy status over here. The Calgary one is useful too.

Definitely starting to consider Calgary given the picture too but as it's Canada I imagine BC can produce a few of their own.

That lake is the best part of 3 hours from Calgary (Moraine Lake I believe)
