Why would you want to live in downtown TO if you're going to be working in Mississauga? PI would have suggested The Beach or Cabbagetown, but I guess you wouldn't want to commute across downtown TO every day.

As for bars, my oppinion goes to places around Church. And my favourite club so far is Guvernment. (If you like clubs).

In summer, the Docks are great for outdoor partying.

Try www.viewit.ca for rentals.
i suppose im showing my naievity of not knowing the area at all - and certainly commute times! i dont mind a 30 - 40 minute car commute however nothing really more than that! I dont mind going to a club every know and again though i would say im more into a few beers at the local pub and a nice meal nowadays!!! (Must be getting older!)

Depends what your commute times would be I suppose, Last time I had to go across the downtown core in rush hour, from Allen Rd/401 to the beach, it took me over 2 and a half hours, and it's only 12km.

Try going on Google Maps, and getting directions from the area you want to live in, to the area where you will be working, and look at the route it takes you on, then check local traffic reports.

No doubt some people will come back and suggest that I just got stuck in really bad traffic or something, but it did my head in!!

P.S. Mississauga is a distinct entity from Toronto, it's a city in it's own right. Comparable in size to Leeds, West Yorkshire, and is in the Peel municipality.

So you have the option of going north out of Town

North west Brampton (dull Suburbia) is approx 40min in rush hour 20min off peak

But outside of here the Traffic drops off nicely so going outside doesn't had much time, small town is an option and there's much to choose from in the Escarpement,

However if you pick your routes carefully living down town to the Airport (hyde park area) can be done in about 30min

From the information I have gleamed regarding what you are looking for in terms of lifestyle- DO NOT MOVE TO THE SUBURBS.

My friend had a tenant who commuted from University and Queen to the Airport area no problemo.

As long as you are near the highway then you'll be fine.

Oh and also: DO NOT MOVE TO THE SUBURBS.

So long as you don't work normal office hours and happen to find the one day in ten when some berk hasn't got into a crash and screwed the whole system and it's not snowing or raining either.

Its easy if you use the back roads, (did it for three months Hyde park to the Airport)

I find Canadians as a rule gravitate to the largest highway possible and then block it leaving all the surrounding roads empty

Is Hyde park a street?

I can't speak for Canadians in general, but Torontonians do that; however once the highway is irredeemably blocked (by about 7:27 most mornings) then the so-called back roads (more commonly known as surface streets) soon follow.

I wondered that but then he seemed very sure about the traffic flow which implied that he knew the place well.

Quite a few people living out our way work at or around the airport, I suppose they probably work shifts. Places with pubs and restaurants within the specified commute time include Streetsville, Orangeville and Caledon. They're suburban, small townish and snobbish village respectively.

While we're on the subject of pubs, March 3rd any good for you?
