Default Where to live in Toronto?

Hello to everyone,

Finally got confirmation that prospective Canadian employer has had application for LMO for myself approved, so now I can finally begin planning new life in Toronto.

Been on here a few times, not recently, asking for some advice on Toronto, etc, just looking for some more advice if anyone can give it!

My new jobis is at Bombardier Aerospace, which is near Downsview Airport (north york area i believe). I am looking for a 3 bed house for my wife and young daughter, budget of around $2000/month.

I have been searching many of the areas in Toronto GTA (Markham, Vaughan, Mississauga etc), but really struggling to find something somewhere that would give us everything we need. i.e. close to shops, good access to public transit (dont want a car unless really have to), nursery areas, and plenty of recreational stuff.

Can anyone advise what is best area to perhaps look for somewhere that offer a reasonable commute to work and affordable?

Also can anyone advise what is likely monthly utility bills payable on an average 3 bed rental home in Toronto?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Bombardier isn't really near Downsview, it is Downsview. Thankfully there is a bus that goes there, the 120 Calvington from Wilson Station on the subway, making it relatively easy to get to. (I was actually surprised when I check there, I thought it would be terrible.) This means you can live downtown, or anywhere with easy access to the subway system.

Downsview as a place to reside in is quite crap and it only stays crappy as you go west. I would concentrate a little eastward. So York Mills, Lawrence/Yonge or anywhere in the Yonge/Bayview corridor are the only places I would consider.

All the places you mention would be a brutal commute by public transit, due to the very spread out nature of the city and the volume of traffic during rush hour

anywhere along that subway line - near eglinton west stn, glencairn or lawrence west stn, on wilson stn would also be an easy run in on the TTC.
