Hi everyone, apologies if there is another thread already for this.
Heading over at end of October with 2 lads on a 2 year IEC visa, and was wondering if anyone could give us a bit of advice/guidance as to the best options for us or where you would go in our situation.
We all have university degrees and I have experience working for a mulitnational firm in accounting but realistically we are all happy enough to do manual work, bar work or anything that pays the bills. We also happy enough to live in most accomodation, be it one room or whatever in order to save costs and hence enjoy spending our money on doing things. We are all between ages of 24-26 so like going out, having a good time, heading away to do things outdoors at the weekends etc. I'd imagine climates wouldn't bother us that much either. I was wondering what area would someone advise us to head too? Obviously the bigger cities such as toronto or vancouver seem the most suited however is there any smaller cities would interest us?
Also with regards to the oil sands etc in Fort Knox, do you need to be qualified technicians to work there or are there manual workers needed during the winter?
Thanks in advance for any help!

That's a BIG ask. Very broad indeed. I'd pop off and do some research online, as currently you might as well stick a pin in the map for any city in Canada given that climate is not an issue.

Wow, you lucky devil! Young, with a two year visa, and mates to support you! The three of you are going to have an absolute blast! I am jealous as hell and wish you every success...I won't say don't do anything that I would do...as I am sure you will, and I hope you enjoy every minute. Very best of luck!

I wouldn't have thought Canada was the best place for lads in their 20s, but if you're insistent, then I'd have to say Toronto or Whistler in the winter are your only realistic options. The rest of the place is a dull as dog mess.

Oh to be young again. I guess the 2 years is a break in their minds to rejuvenate and enjoy life without too many responsibilities before they settle down and the real world then slaps them in the face
In no particular order the following places will suit your needs.
Halifax, St Johns, Montreal, Toronto GTA area, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.
Of course we could tell them that places like Moncton, Fredericton, Gander, Trois Riviere, Summerside, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Brandon, Regina, Lethbridge, Kelowna and Prince Rupert are also wonderful places.

Fort Knox is in the US and is where they keep gold.
Fort McMurray is in Canada and is where they keep tailing ponds.
The world is your lobster so it'll depend on whether you want mountains/city/oceans/prairies. Toronto/Vancouver are the obvious choices but if you want a smaller city with a lot going on and don't mind the fog/snow/freezing rain/rain and incessant fiddle music then St. John's could keep you entertained. There's certainly no shortage of work here.
