Then I suggest Sue's at Major Mackenzie and Don Head Parkway or Bruno's on Bayview just south of 16th. Both have extremely high quality and a very wide selection of all things needed for the fine diner. Of course, in Markham, there's also a huge variety of Chinese food shops (as opposed to Chinese restaurants) if that floats your boat.

St Lawrence's Market was great for everything we wanted when we stayed in Toronto last year. I used to walk there from the apartment we stayed in on Front Street :-)

I used to live on the Esplanade, that was handy for the market. Now we have to drive an hour and a half each way to go shopping so we try not to have to go more than once a week.
