When do employers issue T4's?

Curious as to when they should issue them after the end of the tax year?

Thanks I have my final wage slip dated December 31st, so I am using those figures right now. It is the normal practice of expats on here?

We did ours 2 weeks ago, but any time after December 31 and before the end of Feb is the norm.

End of February is the legal limit, however the employer can be granted an extension in unusual circumstances. Had to do that myself last year due to a weird RRSP issue.

I find banks and financial institutions are really slow at issuing T3s, T5s they get out almost immediately but T3s take forever. Obviously they're usually related to an investment so I can understand they are more complex to issue but I'm endlessly having problems. I never get my tax return done until the second half of April because of it.

The thing that gets me about it though is that my RRSP slips are usually the first to arrive, and the investments are similar.

I agree, TBH I usually end up caving in and toting up my interest manually and filing before the investment slips arrive...

If I left a job in March should my old employer have given me the T4 at the time or will that show up around now too?

They mail it to the last address they have on file for you. If you have moved then let them know.

And it's amazing how many people think their old employer is psychic. ;)

We probably get about 100 T4's returned to us every year marked up "Return to Sender - has moved".

Great. Thanks. I'm in the same address.

I have recieved my T4 from my current employer but will chase my old employer if I have not heard by end of Feb and not hassle them now.

Lastly would one expect a T4 for any Employment Insurance that they recieved?
