Yes that was previously unlimited for British students I think. Bunac could submit pretty much as many student applications to the CIC as they received as long as all of them met the eligibility requirements.

I wonder with the new system whether the counter will be managed from the first 5000 applications they receive or the first 5000 that they process and approve.

We'd have to hope it was the first 5000 they process and approve.

You would have thought that would be the case, it would be a bit pointless otherwise.

Bunac non-student didn't work that way but that's possibly because they pretty much guaranteed a visa to every applicant as long as they didn't lie on their initial application and their paperwork met all of the requirements.

So am I right in saying that you can apply for a second YWV? My biggest worry is not having a job after the first year to keep me in Canada. A year is not a long time at all!

Or the CIC, it's up to you.

Bunac is more expensive but it's the only way to guarantee a place.

That's good news, kind of alleviates the pressure. Thanks for your help!

No problem at all and good luck with your application.

You might hope, but given that the quota for Skilled Worker applications is the first 1000 received (even if 200 of those are rejected), I wouldn't count on CIC being logical!

Helps clear their backlog though ;)

Really?

It makes you wonder if there couldn't be a far right group somewhere down the line sending in bogus applications on day one just to kill of the quota.

Surely if Canada still wants migrants then policies like that aren't going to do anybody any good.

With a 5+ year backlog, they had to implement some fairly strict measures to cut the number of people applying right down - that's one of them.

I suppose it's probable that they are counting on quite a few of those FSW applications received being ineligible then.

Only those approved at CIO Sydney are counted in the Cap. If they are refused at the overseas office, they are still counted towards the Cap. CIO is the gatekeeper for the Cap.
