We have a bungalow, about 3300 sq ft living area, AC, about half acre lot, backs onto unused orchard so we frequently get deer and other creatures, our view is of the Blue Mountains, we have 6 bed rooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, main floor laundry, live in a small village with a Mill Pond in the centre and a river running through into Georgian Bay, about 90 minutes from Toronto, skiing, boating, hiking, golfing , all within 5 minutes.

30 years of work, living within our means, a vision, that is all it took.

Interesting?! Clearly I have been short changed all these years in the mouse department. Rodents I could deal with...it's the human version you have to worry about!

Depends on the house purchase, but this time I had to have:

2 storey
2nd floor laundry
potential for an au pair suite in the basement (I can dream, can't I?!)
be a treed area
separate dining room
open plan family room/kitchen
granite countertops
be in move-in condition, I don't do DIY, not even hanging pictures

We had the opposite problem when we arrived in Vancouver. Everything was too cheap. We had a hard time finding something that was expensive enough for us.

Large living room so can have a step up bit to a dining area open to the kitchen too which will also need to be big enough for a breakfast table type thing.

Large master bedroom no smaller than 17 x 17

Walk in closet

Big bath and a seperate shower for Mr MMC

Workshop big enough to get a car lift in (again for Mr MMC)

Developed Basement

Either large enough garden to build an art studio in or a room on the main floor of the house that feels 'right' enough to be a studio.

Not too close to neighbours

would love somewhere to keep a horse but thats not imperative.

Probably need between 1500 and 2000 sq ft living space and 4 acres!

Don't want much eh!

4 acres isn't enough to be zoned for a horse in most locations. Generally once you have 10 acres you're zoned for horses and can have as many as you can fit.

A garage. A house must have a garage. I can deal with everything else but there must be somewhere to keep the dealing-with toys.
