Nova Scotia - it`s new Scotland you know. You can buy a huge house with lots of land for less than the price of a piece of land on which to pitch a shed in Glasgow

Other than that, I have no idea based on what you have told us

Oh. I was going to suggest the street to the west of Greenwood park but it's a bit wasted if you don't have a dog.

I've explained. No point in living opposite a dog park if you don't have a dog. Unless, I suppose, you like to look at other people's dogs.

it very much depends on what you are looking for ; big city, lakes and mountains, skiing, quiet and laid back.
Canada is so vast and very different. Whats your wish list?

Not nearly enough info to go on Im afraid. Canada is VAST, absolutlely huge. Ontario on its own is larger than France AND Spain combined. It caters to all sorts, although generally the climate and job availability and available funds have a major impact on choices.

Whats Canada like? Hard to say. What its like for me probably wouldnt be all that relevent to you and vice versa. Based on what you said in the other thread I would say the best place for you to try and get to is Glenrothes, but for some reason you want to up sticks accross that Atlantic

Ummm.... it's over 120 times larger than Scotland... you'll have to be more specific about what you're looking for.

Ah, don't scare him off yet dbd - you have to let people get to know you first.

john79g - welcome to the forum - your question is far too open for all us old sceptics on here.

Tell us what you do, what you like, what you want - and you'll eventually find us all a bunch of very helpful old sceptics

Edit: see others have said much the same thing.

From what you've said in your other thread, looks as though you'll need a job offer to get a visa, so you may just have to go wherever you can find work and not get much of a choice in the location.

But if you do a search of the forum you'll find loads of threads with others opinions to read, and also the Moving Back to the UK forum would be a good place to search to find out why people return.

im sorry for being so vague.....

i assume the best way to canada will be through my wife ..i have no formal qualification. she has a degree in mental health nursing, although she has just qualified so she will need some experience first, which will give us time to save for the move....our wish list..we are very realistic, we arnt looking for a massive house for little money..we are willing to work hard for what we get, just looking for something better...we have two daughters so good schooling is a must..dont want out in the sticks. close to city but not in the middle of it....i would like to get the kids into more sports so sports facilities would be good. i dont know if i could get into the same type of work there, as i said i have no qualifications..i work as a community service supervisor.

if anything else i could let you know that could help you help me then just ask
thanks

In reality, Canada is difficult to get into and, in my opinion, is not a great place to be a new arrival trying to struggle on an entry-level salary.

Can I ask why Canada is top of your list? What is it about Canada that you hope to achieve through your hard work that you couldn't achieve by moving elsewhere in the UK, or indeed to Europe (where you don't need a visa)?

I assume you want your daughters to go to college/university? Well, as Scots in Scotland, they'd be able to do that for free... here in Canada that will cost you a small fortune.

I'm not saying "Don't do it", I'm just suggesting that you properly rationalise your reasons, and that you try to define some of the things that make up 'a better life' for you and your family. You should understand that, for most people, the only thing that's different about their routine is the side of the road they drive on to get to work.

If you are looking at coming over on your wife's job as a mental health nurse then she is restricted to I think it is 4 provinces that will accept RMN training on the west side of Canada and she will at some time have to sit the Canadian RMN exam as long as she meets eligibility
